Transition in Motion

A tour connecting international experience with place-based action. Between January and February 2025, Change the World supported meetings, workshops and training processes with Chilean communities, municipalities, universities and organizations. The collaboration later continued internationally.

An experience with continuity

More than a tour: a process of relationship-building, learning and action.

The in-person stage brought together community, municipal, university and civil-society actors in the Metropolitan Region and Los Ríos. From March 2025, relationships built during the tour developed into methodological advisory work that continued online from Norway until January 2026.

Chile is already creating responses from its territories.

The eco-neighborhoods, local organizations and municipalities visited are not starting from zero. They already have experience, collective memory, networks and concrete practices. Change the World’s role is to recognize these capacities, connect them with international learning and help turn them into processes with direction, participation and continuity.

The tour worked simultaneously on the ecological dimension, community organization and the human capacities needed to sustain projects over time.

Five milestones

From the neighborhood to the municipality, and from local presence to international cooperation.

Each activity responded to a different need: connecting networks, broadening possibilities, imagining futures, training change agents or sustaining technical support beyond the in-person visit.

Macul Eco-neighborhoods Gathering

Representatives of eco-neighborhoods, organizations, academia and actors connected to local governments met at Villa Santa Elena to share learning and discuss how to strengthen community environmental work.

The dialogue highlighted eco-neighborhoods as places where climate action becomes part of everyday life: restoring green areas, environmental education, neighborhood organization, trust-building and networking.

Strategic value: bringing diverse actors together in an atmosphere of trust and opening conversations aimed at future collaboration.

Examples of regenerative living around the world

The conversation took place in Villa 4 Álamos, a pioneering experience in Chile’s eco-neighborhood movement. International examples of ecovillages, eco-neighborhoods and regenerative initiatives were connected with Maipú’s local experience.

The premise was simple: inspire without imposing. External experiences become valuable when they enter into dialogue with the memory, capacities and priorities of the territory.

Transferable learning: each community needs to design its own path while strengthening existing local knowledge.

Workshop “Sustainable Máfil in 2080”

Municipal staff, organizations and residents worked with a long-term visualization to imagine the municipality in 2080 and identify what decisions and capacities are needed today.

The exercise connected landscape, production, services, climate, rural identity and well-being, while also incorporating personal development and conflict resolution as components of a sustainable transition.

Strategic value: helping municipalities and communities move beyond a reactive approach and organize projects around a shared vision.

Certified Transition Initiatives Course

A hybrid process combining virtual sessions with an intensive in-person day worked on communication, purpose-driven leadership, citizen participation, co-creation, local project design and tools for sustaining teams.

The approach drew on Transition Launch, combining positive vision, effective groups, community participation, partnerships, practical projects and inner resilience.

Training outcome: strengthening the capacity to lead local processes without neglecting results, relationships or motivation.

March 2025 – January 2026Chile · Norway

Methodological advisory support for citizen environmental organizations

An initial meeting in Chile developed into several months of collaboration through online advisory sessions from Norway for the Metropolitan Region’s program to strengthen citizen environmental organizations.

Change the World contributed to the design of experiences focused on participation, belonging and connection with place, including dynamics for community gatherings and the conceptualization of immersive experiences for an Eco-neighborhood Festival.

Strategic value: demonstrating that a tour can evolve into sustained technical cooperation and methodological transfer at a regional scale.

Change the World – Forandre Verden is a non-governmental organization founded in 1997 and based in Norway. It supports ecosocial transition processes by combining citizen participation, regenerative development, education, organizational strengthening and international cooperation.

Facilitation

Mauricio Deliz

Director of Change the World – Norway and international facilitator within the Transition Movement. A Computer Engineer with studies in Anthropology and Social Geography, and postgraduate studies in Environmental and Energy Planning and International Development Studies at the University of Oslo.

He has more than 30 years of experience in sustainability, participation, permaculture, ecovillages, Transition initiatives, personal development and community strengthening in Europe and Latin America, with additional experience in Africa. He has taught sustainability at university level and is recognized as a trainer by Transition Network.
